Sports organizer Biraj Chakraborty passes away

GUWAHATI: Sports organizer Biraj Chakraborty passed away in a city hospital yesterday after prolonged illness. He was 76 years old and is survived by his wife, Son and a daughter.

A prominent social worker and a noted businessman Chakraborty was a former hockey player who represented Guwahati in the Inter District Tournament. He was the founder Member of the Sporting Union Club and was President and General Secretary of the Club for many years. Gauhati Sports Association mourned the death of Chakraborty who was also a member of this organization. The flag of the Gauhati Sports Association will be half- mast for 3 days.
