GUWAHATI: Different Districts and State Sports Associations will donate Rs 10,000 each to the Chief Minister Relief Fund to fight against COVID-19. The decision was taken during a conference between the officials of the Assam Olympic Association and the officials of the different State and District Sports Associations. Several eminent sportspersons also joined them during this conference.
The Secretary of the Assam Olympic Association Lakhya Konwar today interacted with many top sportspersons of the state like Gilbertson Sangma, Debashish Roy, Hima Das, Lovlina Borgohain, Elvis Ali Hazarika, Kabita Devi, Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Dharmakanta Mili along with the officials of the State and District Sports Associations. During the conversation Konwar appealed to the sports fraternity of the state to extend a united fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The participants, during the interaction, praised the role played by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in this challenging time. They also thanked both of them for ensuring frontline health care service in the State along with other facilities which are now extremely required.
Later it was decided that State and District sports Association will provide financial aid of Rs 10,000 each to the State Government to fight against COVID-19. Different Sports Associations like Assam Olympic Association and Assam Hockey already extend financial aid to the Government.
