ATHLETICS: Indians finish seventh and ninth

in women’s hammer throw final:

The 20-year-old Tanya Chaudhary and Rachna Kumari, 30, featured in the women's hammer throw final. Tanya scored a best of 60.50 in her third attempt to finish seventh. Rachna Kumari, meanwhile, notched 58.13 in her second attempt to rank ninth.

TRACK CYCLING: Esow and David Beckham falter

in men's keirin 7th-12th final:

Following their men's keirin semi-final result, cyclists Esow Alben and David Beckham Elkatohchoongo raced in the men's keirin 7th-12th final to finish 10th and 11th, respectively. It marked the end of their campaigns. Niraj Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhon were ranked eighth but they did not finish the men's madison final race at Hangzhou.

HANDBALL: Women's team defeated by China in Group B:

The Indian women's handball team lost 37-30 against China in the Group B match. It was India's second defeat in three group games which put the team out of contention for a semi-final spot.

India vs Nepal will be the penultimate Group B fixture tomorrow, starting at 11:30 AM IST.

ATHLETICS: Mishra, Ajmal through to 400m final:

Sprinter Aishwarya Mishra equalled her season-best time of 52.73 seconds in the women's 400m round 1. An Asian championships bronze medallist, Aishwarya finished third overall and advanced to the final, which will be contested tomorrow at 5:30 PM IST.

On the other hand, Himanshi Malik failed to make the final after she was ranked 15th in the same event, clocking 57.82 seconds.

In the men's 400m first round, Muhammed Ajmal blazed into the final with a time of 45.76, which was second-best in heat 1 and third-best overall. The final race will begin at 5:40 PM IST tomorrow.

However, three-time Asian Games medallist Muhammed Anas Yahiya could not make the final as he clocked 46.29 to finish third in heat 2.

GOLF: Anirban Lahiri remains T9 after round 2:

Two-time Olympian golfer Anirban Lahiri scored 132, -12 to par, after the individual round 2 to stay tied at ninth place. The 36-year-old Indian golfer registered five birdies today and qualified for the third round.

Meanwhile, Shubhankar Sharma (T21), SSP Chawrasia and Khalin Joshi (both T29) also made the cut for the next round. In the men's team golf standings, India dropped down to T6 with a score of 405.

BADMINTON: India beat Nepal to reach men's team semis:

The Indian men's badminton team, featuring Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Mithun Manjunath, won 3-0 against Nepal in the quarter-final tie. All three Indian players won in straight games. The victory guaranteed India another medal in this edition. India will take on Indonesia or the Republic of Korea in the semi-final tomorrow. India has never won a gold or silver men's team medal at the Asian Games.

DOTA 2: India's campaign ends in group stage:

The Darsha Bata-led five-member Indian Dota 2 team were ousted in the group stage after defeats against the Philippines and Kyrgyzstan.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game played between two teams of five players each. The ultimate goal is to destroy the opponent's main base.

SWIMMING: Advait Page makes 200m backstroke final:

Advait Page, the 21-year-old Indian swimmer, qualified for the men's 200m backstroke final with a personal best time of 2:03.01. However, Srihari Nataraj (2:07.19) failed to make the final after finishing 14th overall. Meanwhile, Nina Venkatesh clocked 27.80 seconds to rank 14th overall in the women's 50m butterfly heats at Hangzhou. Only the top eight swimmers make the final. Aryan Nehra and Kushagra Rawat, too, failed to advance to the men's 400m freestyle finals as they finished outside the top eight.
