Reyaan Nobis, Aarya Jain on top in All Assam Under-7 Chess Championship

GUWAHATI: Reyaan Nobis and Aarya Jain, both from Guwahati, took sole lead in boys and girls categories in the 46th All Assam Under-7 Chess Championship-2023 in the city today.

Reyaan Nobis today defeated Suryanshu Saikia of Guwahati and ended the day with four points from four rounds. Sudipta Paul of Cachar, Syed Mehdi of Karimganj and Ranveer Deb are in second position by scoring 3.5 points from 4 rounds.

In girls category Aarya Jain (4 points) emerged as sole leader beating Adreeja Kalita of Sonitpur in her fourth round matches. Adreeja Kalita, Nida Nazneen of Jorhat, Chaarvi Shree Barman of Guwahati and Adreeja Khanikar of Jorhat are in second position by scoring 3 points from 4 rounds.

Altogether 54 players are participating in the championship and top two players from both categories will be selected to represent Assam in the forthcoming Under-7 National Chess meet.
