Sanjeet wins 91kg gold in Asian boxing

DUBAI: Sanjeet on Monday won the gold medal in the men's 91kg event at the Asian Boxing Championships after upsetting 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist and three-time Asian champion Vassiliy Levit of Kazakhstan 4-1. With 15 medals in this edition, India surpassed its previous best-ever show at this Championship, achieved in 2019, when the country secured 13 medals in all, including two gold.

Despite all the uncertainties our boxers had to undergo, it is absolutely heartening to see them ending the campaign with 15 medals and some close decisions that of Amit Panghal and Marykom in the finals. Our boxers have yet again ensured a record-breaking feat and I am extremely proud of each one of them," said Ajay Singh, president of the Boxing Federation of India. IANS
