T20 World Cup IND Vs AFG: Team India Facing Afghan Spinners Won't Be Easy

Abu Dhabi: After back-to-back defeats, team India will lock horns with its neighbour Afghanistan here at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

This is India's third and Afghanistan's fourth game in the Super12 stage.

So far, India have not shown the quality cricket which they known for. In their first match against Pakistan, they lost 10 wickets while in the second match against New Zealand they lost by 8 wickets.

Today's match is must win match for India to keep their hope alive for the next round i.e. semifinals. In the previous both matches, the men in blue have failed miserably both with their batting and bowling. If in this match, the same performance continues then they will be out of the semifinals.

Going by the recent performance of India both in batting and bowling department, playing Afghanistan spinners will be a tough challenge for them as these spinners have proved themselves in the recent matches. So, India needs to play cautiously against Afghanistan. The spinners like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are capable of turning the match. The Afghanistan is in second place with 4 points from 3 matches.

After Afghanistan, India will face Scotland and Namibia. However, these matches will only be important if India beat Afghanistan in today's match. So, Virat Kohli – led men in blue will leave no stone unturned to turn things around and win the match.

Coming to the chances of making it to the semifinals, the men in blue still have the chance to advance to the semifinals but question comes here that would India be able to beat Afghanistan with a big margin?

From Group 2, Pakistan has almost confirmed their place in the semi-finals by winning all three of their opening matches. As mentioned above, India after facing Afghanistan will now play against Namibia and Scotland. In such a situation, now the competition for the second place has become very exciting. Indian team now must pray that New Zealand must lose in one of the matches ahead.

If India wins the last three matches, then it will get 6 points. If the Kiwi team loses one match and wins two, then it will also get 6 points.

Team India should also pray to defeat Afghanistan as well as its defeat in other matches. Afghanistan's run rate is very good. So, India teams needs to win against Afghanistan and other teams with a big margin.

At the end, if the two teams have the same number of points then it will be decided by net run rate.
