GUWAHATI: Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) has chalked out an elaborate talent hunt programme with an aim to promote promising players of the country. As a part of this plan Federation will also arrange some programmes in the North East which has good talent in this game.

The decision of the talent hunt programme was taken in the Executive Council Meeting of the association which was held in Bengaluru recently. The meeting was presided over by Ishari K Ganesh, the president of the association. Talking to the Sentinel the vice president of the TFI Hiranya Saikia, who was also present in the meeting said, "The responsibility of selecting talented and prospective players from zonal and national championship is entrusted to BM Krishna Murthy, coach of the national team. Krishna Murthy is also appointed as the chairman of the national selection committee."

Talking about the talent in the North East Saikia said, "North East has good talent in this game. If we pick up the talented players and provide them proper training you will see the region will dominate in the national scenario soon. We have also informed the matter to TFI and they are very much interested in picking the talented players from the region and providing them proper training. ' said Saikia.

Meanwhile various commissions of the TFI were constituted in the meeting and Sokun Singh of Arunachal Pradesh appointed as the chairman of the finance commission. The Council also decided to open the administrative office of TFI in Bengaluru and New Delhi in new premises.
