NEW DELHI: Indian famous tennis player Sania Mizra made an important announcement about her retirement plans. Sania said that the year 2022 will be her last year to take part in the Women Tennis Tournament.

The tennis star announced the decision after her loss in the opening round in the women's doubles competition at the currently going on Australian Open.

Sania soon after the match said that there are explanations for her loss as it is not that simple as okay. She said she is not going to play as she feels her recovery is taking time and she is putting her 3-year-old child at risk by touring so much with him. She added that the reason with her child is something that she has to take into account.

The 35 years old tennis superstar also speaks about her physical issues as she said that her body is wearing down and her knee was paining when she was playing. She also clarifies that the reasons for her loss are not this but definitely her body is taking time to heal as she is now getting older.

Sania Mirza also shared with people about her decision of choosing this year as her final season and gave an explanation about why she wishes to play in the current year.

She said that she hopes of playing in 2022 as she is enjoying playing this year and she had worked day and night for her comeback, worked hard for fitness, weight loss and tried to set a better example for all the mothers. She also focused on inspiring new mothers to follow their dreams as much as possible.

Sania Mirza has attained the summit of the Women's Tennis tournament doubles ranking and has successfully bagged 6 Grand Slams. She is regarded as the first-ever Indian tennis player to make her place in the top 30 Women's Tennis tournament singles ranking.

Sania at present ranked 67th internationally had a career-best ranking of 27 in women's single and she is former World No. 1 in tennis.
