NEW DELHI: Rising Indian golfer Rayhan Thomas, who in 2017 equalled the World Record of 9 straight birdies, is aiming for a shot at the 2023 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship to be held in Melbourne in October. Thomas had in 2018 come agonisingly close to winning the biggest prize for an amateur golfer in the Asia-Pacific region, the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) and is now back for another shot at the title. Thomas, who turns 24 in December this year, leads the seven-member Indian squad for the 2023 edition of the AAC at The Roy-al Melbourne Golf Club from October 26-29. He will be leading the Indian contingent comprising Kartik Singh, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Raghav Chugh, Krishnav Nikhil Chopra, Vedant Sirohi and Yuvraj Singh. IANS
