Ashes Test: Australia take vital lead on rain interrupted day

LONDON: Rain delayed the start of day three of the third Ashes Test on Saturday. When the covers do come off, Australia resumed on 116-4 in their second innings, 142 runs ahead of England. They lost next 4 wickets after adding another 54 runs on the board. Mitchell Marsh was the first man to go after scoring 28 off the bowling of Chris Woakes. The veteran seamer then took Alex Carey who made 5. Pacer Mark Wood claimed the wickets of Mitchell Strac and Pat Cummins. In-form Travis Head put on vital 41 runs for the 9th wicket with Todd Murphy. They were 223 runs from 66 overs losing 9 wickets. Head was on 76 off 108 balls . The visitors were leading 249 runs with one wicket in hand.
