Opener Jyotsnil Singh (37) and Ninad Rathva (44) started the run chase beautifully and added 61 runs on the first wicket. Both the batters scored fluently and Riyan Parag was the worst sufferer as the duo took 23 runs on his first over. Later Assam managed to pick a few wickets in quick succession but weren’t able to stop Baroda to chase the run successfully. While Akash Sengupta bagged 2-32, Mukhtar Hussain and Pallavkumar Das collected one wicket each.
Earlier Assam, invited to bat first, made a good start as both the openers Rishav Das and Denish Das put 46 runs on the board in 5.4 overs. Atit Sheth broke the partnership picking Denish Das (32, 20 balls, 4X2, 6X3) on the sixth over and Baroda came back strongly in the game.
Opener Rishav Das was the top scorer in the innings. The right handed batter faced 41 balls to score 48 runs with the help of three boundaries and two sixes. Bishal Roy (21) was the other major contributor.
The hero of the last game Sumit Ghadigaonkar (5) and captain Riyan Parag (8), most consistent with the bat this season, failed to stay on the wicket for a long period that put a lot of pressure in Assam innings and finally they were bowled out on 143 in the last ball of the innings.
