GUWAHATI: Young pace bowler from Bangladesh Hasan Mahmud is very much optimistic about his team’s good show in the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.
Interacting with the media persons just after the team’s first net session at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara Hasan said, “We have prepared well for this mega event and all the players are geared up to give their best on the ground.
Bangladesh arrived in the city yesterday to play their two warm-up matches before their opening game in the ICC World Cup on October 7 against Afghanistan. In the first warm-up match they will face Sri Lanka on Friday and later on October 2 the side will contest against England. All warm-up matches will be held at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara and will kick off at 2 PM.
Hasan, who is now 23, will make debut in the World Cup this time and looked very much enthusiastic. Commenting on his plan in the forthcoming World Cup the pacer said, “I shall try my best to play well and make the competition a memorable one for me and my team”.
Meanwhile controversy erupted in Bangladesh after veteran opening batter Tamim Iqbal was left out from the 15-member squad. When the point was raised Hasan avoided the issue and said that they had the players who could replace Tamim.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka team today also turned out at the ACA stadium for their first net session. On the record Sri Lanka were well ahead than Bangladesh in their face to face encounter. Both the teams faced 53 times in ODI and Sri Lanka won 42 occasions.
Meanwhile members of the Indian team arrived in Guwahati in multiple groups. The England squad are expected to land at the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at mid-night. Both the teams have a scheduled practice session at Amingaon ground tomorrow.
