BCCI Confirms IPL 2022 Auction Dates, Final List Pruned To 590 Players

The auction for 2022 edition of the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL) will feature a total of 370 Indian players and 220 foreign players.

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), through a press release, has confirmed that the auction for IPL 2022 will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.

The final list of the players that will go under the hammer at the IPL 2022 Auction has been finalized with a total of 590 players making it to the final list from the original tally of 1214.

As per the wishlist of the 10 participating franchises, 44 new names have also been added to this list.

The auction will get underway with the marquee set comprising ten star players including Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock, Shikhar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Shami and David Warner.

The highest reserve price is INR 2 crore with 48 players opting to place themselves under this bracket. 20 players in the auction list have a reserve price of INR 1.5 crore while 34 players are in the list of cricketers with a reserve price of INR 1 crore.

India's Under 19 stars which includes the likes of Yash Dhull, Vicky Oswal, Rajvardhan Hangargekar along with some of the already established Indian cricketers such as Devdutt Padikkal, Harshal Patel, Krunal Pandya, Avesh Khan, Deepak Hooda, etc will be looking to cash in and make their mark during the action and then, in the competition.

English fast bowling sensation Jofra Archer, who played for the Rajasthan Royals in the previous editions, has also registered for the auction but he is most likely to miss out on this year's edition due to an injury.

The number of participating teams in the IPL have been increased to 10 from the earlier 8. Two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, have been added to the competition.

Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions of the IPL, having lifted the trophy for the fourth time during last year's edition.
