The Women's Premier League (WPL) was talked about for a long time. It was finally set in motion by the BCCI in October 2022 and since then it has forged ahead at a brisk pace.

MUMBAI: Prolific batters Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma are expected to spark bidding wars during the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) auction. The auction will be held in Mumbai on Monday.

The five teams -- Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, RCB, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz -- will be bidding for 90 players in a list of 409 which included two cricketers from Assam- Jintimoni Kalita and Uma Chetry.

With a salary purse of Rs 12 crore per team for the first year, at least 20 to 25 of the 60 Indian women cricketers set to be picked with good auction.
