ROME: Inter Milan is seemingly out of gas in Serie A as it continued its winless run after being held by relegation battler Genoa 0-0 on Friday.
The Nerazzurri just managed one victory in the past five games across all competitions, and was in a dire need of a victory to retake the pole position on the table.
The defending champion dominated the game from the very beginning, but couldn't find the net throughout the game. The closest moment came on the hour mark but Danilo D'Ambrosio saw his header denied by the woodwork.
Having a game in hand, Inter Milan ranks second in the standings and is still two points behind AC Milan.
Inter Milan should feel fortunate as its city-rival also failed to register a win on Friday, when AC Milan played out a 1-1 tie with Udinese at San Siro.
The Rossoneri went ahead in the 29th minute when Rafael Leao finished with a low-strike on Sandro Tonali's assist. Destiny Udogie equalized after the break, but the player was suspected of scoring by hand.
The two Milan sides will set up a clash in the Coppa Italia semifinal next Wednesday. Agencies
