New Delhi: Amid Russia-Ukraine conflict, the UEFA Champions League 2022 final has been shifted to Paris which was to be held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Notably, things are changing rapidly after Russia attacked Ukraine. Many countries of the world have unitedly stood against Russia, following which the country has suffered a major setback.

Earlier, UEFA had called an important meeting on Friday, where it was decided to officially move the Champions League final outside St. Petersburg.

Taking to the micro-blogging site twitter, the UEFA tweeted, '' The 2021/22 UEFA Men's Champions League final will move from Saint Petersburg to Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The game will be played as initially scheduled on Saturday 28 May at 21:00 CET''.

Following the Russia attack on Ukraine, there were already clouds of concern in the football world. Many countries, football organizations had already raised objections and demanded to shift the final of the Champions League out of Russia.

This final was to be held in May 2022 at the St. Petersburg ground in Russia. Not only the Champions League final, but Russia and Poland have a football match in March, while Scotland has a football match with Ukraine.

UEFA also thanked and appreciated French Republic President Emmanuel Macron for his personal support and commitment to have European club football's most prestigious game moved to France at a time of unparalleled crisis.

''Together with the French government, UEFA will fully support multi-stakeholder efforts to ensure the provision of rescue for football players and their families in Ukraine who face dire human suffering, destruction and displacement,'' an official statement read.
