GUWAHATI: The AXX (Axam Xahitya Xabha) is going to hold its five-day 75th biennial session at Sualkuchi from Friday amidst uncertainty on the participation of the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind in the session.
As per schedule, the President of India is supposed to take part in the open session of the Xabha as the chief guest on February 3 when new AXX president Kuladhar Saikia will be taking charge. On that day, the ‘Dr Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial National Literary Award’ will be given away to Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Marathi writer Bishwas Patil in the presence of noted Hindi poet Leeladhar Jagori as the special guest.
On February 2, the Xabha will hoist as many as 75 flags. The main AXX flag will be hoisted by outgoing president of the literary body, Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi.
Meanwhile, the ‘Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Book Festival’ on the occasion of the AXX session was formally inaugurated on Thursday. The main gate of the session depicting the textile industry of Sualkuchi was also inaugurated by Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kamal Kumar Baishya during the day.
