APSC's dental surgeon examition scrapped

GUWAHATI, Nov 1: Following the allegations of massive anomalies in the dental surgeon recruitment examition, 2016, conducted by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), the State government has decided to scrap the entire examition process. "The government has taken the issue of anomalies in APSC very seriously. The Chief Minister has already asked the police to carry out a thorough probe so that no one goes scot-free," said State Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma here today.

bakanta Patir, an assistant engineer of the Town and Country Planning department, Dibrugarh, was caught red-handed by police on October 27 while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a job aspirant, a private dental surgeon from Amguri town in Sivasagar district.  Police said the woman had recently appeared for the APSC dental surgeon recruitment examition, 2016 which was held to fill up 60 posts in the Health and Family Welfare department. The woman had told reporters that before the viva voce which was held on October 24, Patir had called her up and demanded Rs 15 lakh if she wanted the job.
