GUWAHATI: The AXX (Axam Xahitya Xabha) has spelt it out as to who among the political leaders of the State, as per the protocol, can sit on the dais of its 75th biennial session at Sualkuchi with President Ramnath Kovind.

The President of India is going to attend the AXX session on February 3. The literary body has further made it clear that being a non-political forum it will not allow any political leaders to be on the dais. However, those coming with the President of India as per the protocol will have access to the dais. It has also made it clear that only Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, as per the protocol, will have access to the dais along with the President.

Addressing a press conference at the AXX Bhawan here on Friday, AXX president Paramanada Rajbongshi said, “The central committee of the AXX has decided to invite people with political background and make them sit at a place in front of the dais.”

Rajbongshi added that among other programmes, there will be a programme tilted ‘Sangbidhanik Raksha Kabas aaru Axomor Axomiya (constitutional safeguards and the Assamese of Assam) at the session. The programme will try to elicit views on the current scenario of Assam. Over 100 students’ unions of the State are expected to take part in the programme.

AXX secretary general Padum Rajkhowa said that for its anti-CAA stand the literary body will not invite any political leader other than the Chief Minister and the Education Minister to the dais.
