Minority board chief demands ban on Muslim-dominated areas
STAFF REPORTER
GUWAHATI: In the aftermath of five persons testing corona positive in the State, Assam Minority Development Board (AMDB) Chairman Muminul Aowal has demanded the government to ban Tablighi Jamaat in Assam, besides conducting search operations in each and every madrassa and masjid in the State.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday, Aowal said, “It’s as clear as daylight as to how coronavirus has entered Assam from Nizamuddin Dargah in New Delhi. Dictated by their angst against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, a section of Muslims has been nurturing a mentality to defy all government guidelines on COVID-19 in Assam as well. With their conservative thoughts, a section of mullas or moulavis, have also misled the community on coronavirus. Since people from Nizamuddin Dargah have returned to the State, some people from New Delhi might have come along with them and taken shelter in masjids and madrassas across the State. Thus the situation demands a search operation in all madrassas and masjids in the State. At the same time, all Muslim-dominated areas in the State should be banned.”
Aowal also demanded that the government must take action against AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, Assam State Jamiat Ulama secretary Fajlul Karim Kashimi and Ashiq Ilahi for misinformation on the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Dargah in New Delhi through the social media.
