GUWAHATI: The Council of Ministers approved the ‘new land policy’ to replace the 30-year-old State land policy of 1989. Under the new land policy, landless farmers in the State will get three bighas of arable land. The Council of Ministers met this evening and approved a slew of pending decisions.
The Council of Ministers also hiked bus fare by 25 per cent, approved the new exports and logistics policy, the policy of no consideration for government jobs for people with more than two children with effect from January 1, 2021, reorganization of the PWD leading to the creation of five more posts of superintending engineers, creation of 1,244 new posts in the Panchayat and Rural Development department, raising the contingency fund to Rs 200 crore from the existing Rs 100 crore, paying Rs 300 per month as pension to every widow of the State under the Indira Miri Widow Pension Scheme etc.
