Kumar Sanjay Krishna appointed as new Chief Secretary of Assam

GUWAHATI: Kumar Sanjay Krishna has been appointed as the Chief Secretary (CS) to the Government of Assam on Tuesday. He will take charge from incumbent CS Alok Kumar who is retiring from service on December 31, 2019.

Sanjay Krishna opened his career as IAS (probationary) in Jorhat in 1985. He then served as SDO (Civil), Morigaon. Next, he was the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur and Kamrup. After that, he was the MD (Managing Director) of ATC (Assam Tea Corporation ), the Secretary of the Food & Civil Supplies Department, the Commissioner of Education, and as the Principal Secretary Planning & Development in Assam.

Besides serving as a Director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in between his career in Assam, Sanjay Krishna also was Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry for more than six years, and Additional Secretary, Agriculture Ministry.

Presently, Kumar Sanjay Krishna is the Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Political, Revenue, IPR etc.

Meanwhile, various organizations have congratulated Kumar Sanjay Krishna on him being appointed as the next CS of Assam.

Meanwhile, Additional CS Rajib Kumar Bora (1985 batch) has been appointed as the Chairman of Assam Administrative Tribunal; Additional CS VS Bhaskar (also of the 1985 batch) has been appointed as the Chairman, Board of Revenue, Assam; and Additional CS Jishnu Barua (1988 batch) has been allotted the additional charges of the Revenue as well as the Home & Political Departments.

Principal Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha has been allotted the additional charge of the Transformation & Development Department. Principal Secretary Avinash Purushottam Das Joshi has been given the additional charge of the Excise as well as the Environment & Forest Departments.

Commissioner & Secretary Preetam Saikia has been allotted the additional charge of Information & Public Relations Department as well as the Printing & Stationery Department.
