Maneswar Basumatary Cremated With Full State Honour

GUWAHATI: The mortal remains of CRPF Head Constable Maneswar Basumatary who was among those killed in the terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday, was confined to flames with full State and military honour at his native place at Tamulpur in Baksa district on late Saturday evening.

Earlier the body of Basumatary reached the Air Force Base Station at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport at Borjhar here on Saturday evening. An Indian Air Force flight brought the body.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Transport and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, DGP Kuladhar Saikia, top CRPF and Air Force officials who were present at the airport paid floral tributes to the departed soul.

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, APCC president Ripun Bora and former Minister Rakibul Hussain also reached the airport to pay their tributes. Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma helped the CPPF officials to carry the coffin of Basumatary before it was taken to his home at Tamulpur in Baksa district by a special helicopter. State Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Press Advisor to Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami accompanied the body to Tamulpur.
