One Kg of ‘Golden Needle’ Tea From Donyi Polo Tea Estate Sold At Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) on Wednesday created history by selling ‘Golden Needle’ tea from Donyi Polo Tea Estate of Arunachal Pradesh at a record price of Rs. 75,000 per kg. The Secretary of Guwahati Auction Tea Buyers Association (GTABA), Dinesh Bihani, in an official statement said that the same tea estate had set a record last year when their tea was sold for Rs. 39,000 per kg.

The tea was bought by Chattarsingh Narendrakumar, a city-based buyer. Absolute Tea will be selling the tea online on their website.

Jayant Jalan of Absolute Tea, said, “We had bought Donyi Polo Golden Needles and World Championship winning tea from Halmari in the past few years, the response has been superb with people loving the tea. We expect a similar response this year.”
