GUWAHATI: All bakeries, flour mills etc in the State have been asked to continue their production with minimum workforce to avoid any scarcity of readymade food items like biscuits, flour (atta), beaten or thrashed rice (sira) etc during the lockdown period,.

The State-Level Task Force on coronavirus headed by Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna has issued a slew of orders after reviewing the situation on Saturday. To tide over the situation which urban daily-wage earners like rickshaw-pullers, labourers and others might have faced, the task force has asked all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure that essential commodities are provided to such people free of cost at least for a week. This order is in sync with the relief manual of the State government.

The SDMA (State Disaster Management Authority), on the other hand, has also issued guidelines for people staying in apartments so as to prevent COVID-19 from occurring. Apartment dwellers have been asked to send their domestic workers on leave with pay; take immediate steps on their own to quarantine any person in their apartment having a travel history; maintain details of people visiting their apartment; keep all hand-washing chemicals ready at the entrances of all apartments; close all parks, swimming pools, fitness centres, common centres etc of apartments; disinfect buttons of lifts and railings of staircases thrice a day; and to inform the Health department the occurrence of fever and cough among anyone in the apartment through the helpline 104.
