12 pilgrims killed in a stampede at Mata Mata Vaishnodevi Temple in Jammu

JAMMU: Twelve pilgrims were killed in a stampede at Mata Vaishnodevi Temple in Jammu in the wee hours on Saturday when a large number of pilgrims entered the temple without permission. Fourteen pilgrims also sustained injuries in the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi monitored the rescue operation and announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased.
