GUWAHATI: Over 14 lakh students of Assam from school to university levels witnessed the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the moon this evening. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also witnessed the historic moment along with the students of Rajdhar Bora Higher Secondary School, Azara, on the outskirts of Guwahati.

The landing of Chandrayaan on the moon’s surface made the students of the school shout with joy, appreciating the Indian scientists for their historic achievement. Even the Chief Minister joined the students of the schools in clapping hands while congratulating the Indian scientists who made India’s dream a reality.

Speaking to the media after ISRO’s (Indian Space Research Organization) success story, the Chief Minister said, “I congratulate India’s space scientists and the scientists of ISRO for the success story they scripted today. I believe that under the leadership of the hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this good omen at the beginning of Amrit Kaal will make India one of the most developed countries in the world. We asked the students to witness the historic soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 today. The Education Department informed me that over 14 lakh students from around 31,500 schools in the state witnessed the feat. Now, we will organize three essay competitions among students on Chandrayaan-3 in the immediate future. This is to make the students curious about space science. They can write about today’s thrilling experience at the landing of Chandrayaan-3 in their essays”.

The Chief Minister wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Another giant leap for humanity! Chandrayaan’s triumphant landing is a testament to human ingenuity and exploration spirit. Congratulations to the brilliant minds behind this incredible achievement! @isro #Chandrayaan3 #Chandrayaan3Landing.”
