The 17.300-km project, with a cost of Rs 588.95 crore, includes a four-lane road. The four-lane road portion of the project is also nearing completion.

According to sources, the bridge is likely to be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu in the first half of October next.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju visited the construction site and inspected the new bridge on Friday along with Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Kamakhya Tasa. Rijiju said on the occasion that the bridge will play a very important role in connectivity between the two banks of the Brahmaputra and benefit the people of Assam as well the entire Northeastern region.

The Union Minister said that construction of the bridge started in 2015, but there has been delay in completion of construction work due to some technical reasons. However, it is finally ready for service of the public.
