3,100 foreigners deported: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: In a written reply to a question put forward by Congress MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that from 2016 to July, 2023, the Assam Government had issued notices to 71,198 D-voters (Doubtful voters). Of these, 37,304 had been declared as foreigners.

In reply to a question by MLA Akhil Gogoi, the Chief Minister further informed that between 2001 to 2023, a total of 1,31,649 people had been declared as foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunals (FTs) and among them, 3,100 had been deported.
