34 Assam Government Holidays in 2022

There will be 34 official holidays in the State in 2022, stated a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Thursday.

GUWAHATI: There will be 34 official holidays in the State in 2022, stated a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Thursday.

There will be two half-holidays during the year on August 9 on account of 'Muharram'; and also on October 9 on account of 'Lakshmi Puja'. Besides, there will be 31 restricted holidays during the year, added the notification.

In addition to this, the GAD has been allowed to declare two additional holidays with the approval of the Chief Minister.

All the Deputy Commissioners have been allowed to declare one local holiday in their respective districts. However, in case of Kamrup Metro district, the GAD will be allowed to declare two local holidays.

There will be two days holidays on January 14 and 15 on account of 'Magh Bihu' and Tusu Puja respectively; on January 23 on account of Netaji's birthday; January 25 on account of Gwther Bathou San; January 26 for Republic Day; January 31 for 'Me-Dam-Me-Phi'; February 16 for Bir Chilaray Divas; March 18 for 'Dol Jatra'; April 14 and 16 on account of Bohag Bihu; April 15 for Bohag Bihu and Good Friday; April 21 for 'Sati Sadhani Divas'; May 1 for 'May Day' and the Tithi of Damodardeva, May 3 for Id-U'l-Fitr, May 16 on account of Buddha Purnima, May 17 on account of Janmotsav of SriSriMadhadeva, July 10 for Id-U'l-Zuha, August 15 for Independence Day, August 19 for Janmasthami, August 29 for the tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva, September 6 for Karam Puja, September 14 for tithi of Sri Sri Madhadeva, October 2 for Gandhi Jayanti and Durga Puja (Saptami), October 3 and 4 for Durga Puja Asthami and Navami), October 5 for 'Bijoya Dashami' and Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva; October 18 for Kati Bihu, October 14 Kali Puja and Diwali, October 27 for BhatriDwitiya, October 30 for Chhat Puja, November 8 for Guru Nanak birth day, November 24 Lachit Divas, December 2 for 'Asom Divas (Sui-ka-pha Divas) and December 25 for Christmas.

There will be no public transaction in the nationalised banks on April 1 on account of the annual closing of bank accounts, added the notification..
