GUWAHATI: The State Government could spend 64.42 per cent of the total budgetary allocations in fiscal 2020-21 that ended on March 31, 2021.

According to provisional statistics prepared by the Finance Department, all the government departments could spend Rs 76747.69 crore of Rs 119141.07-crore total budgetary allocation in fiscal 2020-21. It is 64.42 per cent of the total budget allocations. The departments could spend 69.01 per cent of the total budget allocation in fiscal 2019-20.

The expenditure of budgetary allocations at the right time largely depends on the departments concerned. They need to send proposals to the Finance Department timely.

According to the provisional statistics, the sector-wise actual budgetary expenditures against their corresponding estimates in fiscal 2020-21 are – 66.32 per cent of Rs 33978.35 crore in the general sector, 66.51 per cent of Rs 48069.18 crore in the social sector and 60.42 per cent of Rs 36155.48 crore in the economic sector. The estimated revenue receipt in the budget for fiscal 2020-21 was Rs 91930.81 crore. However, the government received Rs 64902.19 crore. It is 70.60 per cent of the estimated receipt.

The statistics referred to here are provisional ones. The CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) gives the final statistics of every budget later on. The preparations for the 2022-23 state Budget are going on now. The Assam Assembly will be in its Budget session from March 14, 2022.
