89th annual session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha begins in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: The 89th annual session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha (SSS), the largest socio-cultural-literary-religious organization of Northeast India, began at heritage site Kaziranga Samannay Kshetra in Dinhingia Mahura Pathar under Bokakhat subdivision in Golaghat district on Wednesday.

Kaziranga Samannay Kshetra wore a festive look. The four-day-long conference will witness literary and cultural competitions, Ankiya Bhaona and discussions on religious and cultural issues. The organizers expect more than 30 lakh devotees to throng the venue during the four-day programme.

For organizing every event smoothly, a reception committee along with other sub-committees has been working in full swing. The whole area for session covers 1,718 bighas and 215 shelter camps for the devotees have been set up. A huge food court has also been set up where 10,000 people can have food at a time.

On the first day of the conference, various camps, main gate, Naatghar and Namghar were inaugurated and book release programmes were also held. They were followed by other programmes.

On the second day, the meeting of the district committees will be held and followed by representatives’ meeting in the evening. Cultural programmes will be held in the evening.

On the third day, Bhagawat Bhraman and cultural procession will start at 10 am. From 11 am, open meeting will be held on the main stage. The meeting will be presided over by Kamalakanta Gogoi, Padadhikar of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha.
