GUWAHATI: Altogether 930 recovered symptomatic COVID-19 persons donated plasma in Assam till September 14, revealed data of the State Health Department. The GMCH (Gauhati Medical College & Hospital) has collected the highest plasma collection. After the initial screening, the GMCH laboratory authorities called more than 1,299 willing persons for plasma donation. Of them, 619 could donate their plasma after going through the pre-investigation procedure.

The Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) collected plasma from 120 such persons followed by 74 in Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH); 66 in Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh; and 51 in Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH).

The plasma taken from a donor is generally utilized for two serious COVID-19 patients.

Health department officials further informed that if any recovered symptomatic COVID-19 persons wish to donate their plasma, he/she can inform at helpline number 104.
