AIIMS Guwahati construction will be over in 6 months: Dr Mansukh Mandaviya

GUWAHATI: Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the works of AIIMS (All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences) Guwahati would complete within six months. He also instructed the construction companies to complete the work within six months. The Union Minister said this before the media while visiting the construction works of AIIMS-Guwahati at Changsari on the outskirts of Guwahati this afternoon.

Earlier, Mandaviya reviewed the progress of AIIMS Guwahati construction works at IIT-Guwahati. The Union Minister expressed his dissatisfaction at the not-so-speedy progress of works. He instructed the construction companies of the project to speed up the work and complete it by the next six months.

The Union Minister also asked IIT-Guwahati to keep a close watch on the quality of works of AIIMS.

Mandaviya then went to the AIIMS Guwahati construction site. State Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta accompanied the Union Minister. Also accompanying him are officials from AIIMS Guwahati, IIT Guwahati, Health and Family Welfare Department and Kamrup district administration. The Union Minister asked the AIIMS Guwahati authority to recruit more faculties for the medical institution. He also asked the state Health Minister to depute an IAS officer as the Deputy Director of AIIMS for the smooth progress of the work.

Keshab Mahanta said that he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
