GUWAHATI: AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi has said that the party has been able to project its uncompromising regional ideology in the recently concluded Assembly election in the State. He has also claimed that the AJP will be a factor in the formation of the State Government.
The AJP president reviewed the performance of the party in the Assembly election with party candidates here on Monday.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, "The AJP has been successful in taking forward with its aims and objectives. The people of Assam always want to keep its supremacy intact and to live with their heads held high.
"I'm not going to disclose as to how many seats we'll win. However, I can rest assured everybody that the voters of Assam have given a historic mandate in the Assembly election. All will know it on May 2. We'll be a factor in the formation of the government in the State. We aren't scared of any horse-trading."
When asked if the AJP will extend its support to the Mitrajoot or the Mahajoot in the event of offer from any of them, Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, "We'll take decisions with an uncompromising mentality on the interests of the people of the State. We're against any move that may spell disaster for the State and its people."
