GUWAHATI: Come February 15 and all COVID-related restrictions in the State will be withdrawn.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that considering the improving COVID situation in the State, the government has decided to lift all restrictions from February 15. But protocols for use of masks, sanitisers and double dose vaccination will continue, he said.

All schools, including LP schools, in the State, will open from February 15. The Chief Minister urged the students who will be sitting for the Class X and Class XII examinations to be fully vaccinated before their exams. Regarding the students who have not taken the double dose of vaccine, he said that instructions will be issued later as to how they will appear for the exams.

There will be no night curfew, and shopping malls and cinema halls can function at full capacity. Weddings and other social gatherings will also be allowed at full capacity. "There will be no restriction on time and number but all attendees must be fully vaccinated," he said.

The Chief Minister said that the COVID situation in the State was almost under control, with only about 50 patients admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
