AMDB Chairman Muminul Aowal pinpoints who the Mughals are

GUWAHATI: What did Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mean when he uttered – Mughals' invasion is still underway, and we need to defeat it – in a recent public speech? Now, Assam Minority Development Board (AMDB) Chairman Muminul Aowal explains 'who the Mughals are'.

Talking to The Sentinel on the Chief Minister's utterance, Aowal said, "The Chief Minister used the phrase 'Mughals' invasion' symbolically to drive home that even now the Assamese culture, language, social customs, economy and politics are under external invasion, and those who are attacking them are 'Mughals'. The Chief Minister wants to mean that such an external invasion should be defeated at all cost."

Pinpointing who the 'Mughals' are, Aowal further said, "During the Congress regime, a large number of infiltrators were given lands and shelter. Those infiltrators are the 'Mughals'. The infiltrators who have encroached upon the lands of Xatras and national parks in the State are 'Mughals'. The infiltrators at whose strength AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal has been playing the politics of religious polarization in Assam are 'Mughals'. Playing politics with religious polarization is Ajmal's middle name. This time around, the Congress has also joined the AIUDF. They've teamed up to garner the votes of a particular section of people with such a polarization in the 2021 Assembly election in the State. The BJP, on the contrary, is working hard to keep united the indigenous people belonging to various castes, creeds, communities or religions across the State.
