* Contemplating on forming a separate recruitment board: Pegu

GUWAHATI: State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog has said that the appointment of one lakh people in the State will be prompt, transparent and need-based. Education Minister Ronuj Pegu, on the other hand, said that his department is contemplating forming a separate recruitment board.
The two Ministers addressed a press conference jointly here on Tuesday. Neog said, "We've asked various departments to send the lists of posts on need-based. We'll start the appointment process based on the lists to be received from the departments. The appointment process will be transparent and without loopholes.
"The Finance Department has approved the salaries of 11,135 lower primary and upper primary tutors."
On his part, Pegu said, "When venture schools were provincialised last year, 11,135 teachers couldn't be made part of the provincialisation process as they didn't have the required qualification as teachers. That led the Department to appoint them as tutors. There were also illegally and irregularly appointed people as teachers. The department also accommodated them as tutors based on their qualifications.
"The Education Department is set to appoint people in a big way. We're contemplating creating a separate recruitment board in the department to make the recruitment process easier. However, the Government will have the final say on this issue."
On HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) and HS (Higher Secondary) examinations, 2021, Pegu said, "From today we've started a discussion to take the final decision. We'll come out with the decision within two days. We're ready for holding the examinations but subject to approval from the Health and Family Welfare Department."
