APSC cash-for-job scam: Judicial panel finds more anomalies than police

GUWAHATI: The Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission has detected anomalies in the answer scripts of more candidates than the number of candidates the Dibrugarh police indicted in the cash-for-job scam in the APSC. The inquiry report is ready.

The commission inquired into the anomalies in the CCE (Combined Competitive Examination) conducted by the APSC. The APSC declared the results of that CCE on May 12, 2015.

The State Government constituted the judicial commission following a directive from the Gauhati High Court.

According to sources, the inquiry commission detected anomalies in the answer scripts of many candidates. The Commission may submit its report to the government at any time. The term of the commission will expire on March 31, 2022.

According to sources, the inquiry commission did call some of the candidates whose answer scripts have large-scale anomalies. The commission asked them some school-level queries like simple spellings. And some of the candidates could not spell simple words correctly, sources said.

The commission report has two parts. While one of the parts contains the findings of the inquiry and recommendations on APSC examination reforms, the other part has papers and documents based on which the commission prepared the report, besides the certified copies of the answer scripts of candidates in which the commission detected anomalies.

The Dibrugarh police filed criminal cases against 39 qualified candidates. However, the judicial commission detected anomalies in the answer scripts of even more candidates.

The APSC declared 241 candidates qualified in that CCE.
