GUWAHATI: The Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission will now take the help of forensic experts to examine a few doubtful answer sheets.
After scrutinizing answer sheets of some candidates who had qualified in the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), 2014 of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), the Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission found the answer sheets of 2-4 candidates doubtful. To ascertain whether the handwriting in the answer sheets matches with the handwriting of the respective candidates, the answer sheets will be sent to the forensic laboratory soon. Before this, the handwriting samples of the candidates will be collected.
The Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission had scrutinized answer sheets of some candidates who had qualified in the CCE, 2014 of the APSC. The Dibrugarh Police had probed the multi-crore APSC cash-for-job scam. During investigation, the police seized all the answer sheets and submitted them to the Court of the Special Judge, here in Guwahati. The Assam Government later formed a one-man judicial inquiry commission headed by Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma, retired Judge of Gauhati High Court, to inquire into the allegations of anomalies and malpractices in the conduct of CCE, 2013 and CCE, 2014. The Commission had taken the permission of the court to examine the answer sheets of the candidates who had qualified in CCE, 2014.
On the other hand, the term of the Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission will expire on May this year. The government had earlier extended the term of the Commission for six months. The inquiry process was in its last stage when the Commission’s Secretary, who is an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer, was suspended for alleged financial irregularities in the execution of projects under the MP Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD). As a result, some work of the Commission has been delayed. It is now expected that the Commission will seek more time for final submission of its report.
