GUWAHATI: A bench of Gauhati High Court on Monday directed the State government to release 50 per cent of the basic pay to a section of the accused officers of the ACS (Assam Civil Service), APS (Assam Police Service) and allied services.
According to government services rules, a suspended official of the State government can avail of one-fourth of their basic pay for the initial three months, and 50 per cent of the basic pay after three months.
After the State government dismissed the allegedly tainted APSC-cleared officials, a section of them challenged the dismissal order in the Gauhati High Court. In this context, 50 cases were registered in the court. The High Court had earlier stayed the dismissal order of the State Government.
After hearing the 50 cases on Monday, the court issued the latest direction to the State government. The High Court directive stated, “In the meantime, in cases where the discharge orders have been stayed by this Court, the respondents shall pay the subsistence allowances to those petitioners, whose discharge orders have been stayed.”
The directive was given by Justice Michael Zothankhuma. The next hearing on these cases will take place on October 24, 2019.
