Artificial Intelligence in education: Barpeta district shows the way

GUWAHATI: Assam is going to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education sector under its ‘Innovation in Education’ move. The Barpeta district in the state has made strides in the use of AI in education.

Lauding the AI initiative in education in the Barpeta district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X (formerly called Twitter): “Artificial Intelligence (AI) can address some of the biggest challenges in education and innovate teaching and learning practices. In Assam’s Barpeta, our district authorities have developed AI apps to simplify lesson planning for teachers.”

The Barpeta District Education Department has developed AI-based educational apps covering around 200 schools under them. The AI-based education apps include lesson plan creator AI, an AI teacher app, and an AI proofreading assistant.

For a district like Barpeta in lower Assam to have developed such an innovation is indeed laudable.
