GUWAHATI: The 'Arundhati Gold Scheme' has failed to lift off so far. This scheme was one of the main features of the 2019-2020 budgetary announcements. The Revenue & Disaster Management Department had the responsibility to implement this scheme.
Sources informed that even 93 applicants were also found eligible. However, none has received the benefits under this scheme even in current fiscal.
The objective of this scheme is to facilitate the parents of the girl child who are economically not very sound, but like all parents desire to give some gold which is considered auspicious to their daughters as gift on her marriage. In this regard, each of beneficiaries is supposed to get Rs 30,000 as a token to procure the gold.
The conditions were as follows: The applicant's marriage must be registered under the 'Special Marriage Act-1954'. The legal ages of the bride and groom must be 18 and 21 years respectively at the time of registration of marriage. The applicant should have solemnized her marriage on or after December 1, 2019. The applicant should have registered her marriage on or after January 1, 2020. The total income of parents of the applicant girl should be below Rs 5 lakh per annum. The applicant girl can avail this benefit for her first marriage only. Both the bride and groom must have passed at least HSLC or equivalent (except the tea tribes including the Adivasi communities of the State).
