GUWAHATI: The 'Asom Xatra Mahaxabha' has come down heavily on the ULFA-I (United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent) for abducting three officials of the ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Commission) Ltd.

The principal secretary of 'Asom Xatra Mahaxabha', Kusum Kumar Mahanta said in a press statement on Saturday, "We warn the ULFA-I not to carry out any such act on the indigenous people of the State in the future."

Mahanta added, "The ULFA-I had taken up arms to free Assam from Bangladeshi infiltrators. But now, they are not thinking twice before abducting indigenous people of the State. If they have the guts, they must take steps to expel all Bangladeshi infiltrators from Assam and also check the rising population of Bangladeshi-origin Muslim people in the State."

The 'Asom Xatra Mahaxabha' thanked the Assam Rifles and the State government for rescuing two of the three abducted indigenous persons on Saturday. The two persons were rescued from Mon district of Nagaland.

The 'Asom Xatra Mahaxabha' demanded that the third person must be also released unharmed by the ULFA-I.
