Assam: 3 more dead even as flood water recedes

Guwahati: Flood water continued to recede in the state even as three more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

The overall death toll due to floods and landslides this year is now 190. Of the latest deaths, one each was reported from Cachar, Nagaon and Hailakandi. The deceased included one child, a man and a woman.

According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), no river was flowing above the danger level in the state. However, 28 revenue circles of 14 districts continued to be affected by floods.

As many as 8,88,177 of 362 villages remained affected as on date due to floods. It is pertinent to mention that over 75,000 people are still taking shelter in 173 relief camps in several districts.
