Assam Assembly passed Motor vehicle taxation amendment bill 2021

GUWAHATI: The Assam Assembly today passed the Assam Motor Vehicle Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2021. The passage of the Bill will ensure the registration sleeper buses in the state which could not be done earlier in the state due to the lack of specified rates of taxation in respect to sleeper buses in the existing taxation schedule. Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary agreed to an opposition amendment to bring down the annual tax per berth from the proposed Rs 9,000 to Rs 8,000.
