GUWAHATI: Opposition parties termed the State Annual Budget presented in the State Assembly today an election-oriented Budget.

Speaking to the media today, Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia said, "In this budget, there is no specific scheme for the unemployed youth and for the safety of women. Earlier, pink buses were running in Guwahati for the convenience of women, but this service has been discontinued now. The Budget has no scheme for farmers either. This is out and out an election-oriented budget made for the upcoming Panchayat and Lok Sabha elections."

Congress MLA Rakibul Hussain remarked, "This is a confusing budget that reveals no clear end."

Aminul Islam, an AIUDF MLA, said, "The budget looks attractive, but it is not people oriented."

CPI(M) MLA Manoranjan Talukdar said, "The budget doesn't reflect any specific flood-control scheme."
