GUWAHATI: The state cabinet took the decision of increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of government employees and approved other important issues today.

The cabinet decided that state government employees will receive 4% additional DA with effect from December 1, 2023. With this, the total DA for state government employees now stands at 46%. Arrear DA effective from July, 2023 to November, 2023 will be paid in two equal installments.

The cabinet approved the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University First Statutes 2023, which has been enacted to carry out the provisions of University Act, 2011.

The cabinet today also decided to release grants-in-aid to Guwahati Smart City Limited from the government of Assam, to be converted into equity investment of Rs 318 crores for strengthening the GSCL’s equity.

The Assam cabinet decided to provide land to 2538 families across five districts as part of Mission Basundhara 2.0. The total number of families receiving the land in different districts is: Sonitpur- 1306 families, Dibrugarh- 1071, Goalpara-90, Bongaigaon- 69 and Morigaon- 2.

Cabinet also decided to release Rs 135 crore to Assam Cancer Care Foundation for construction of the remaining three cancer care hospitals under the first phase and 7 hospitals in the second phase of the Assam Cancer Care Project.

The cabinet also decided to provide three eggs with midday meal to each of the eligible children of the schools in the char-chapori areas under PM- Poshan with effect from December 2023.
