Assam Cabinet: Ex-servicemen to get 75% concession in property registration fees

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet today took a slew of important decisions. The Cabinet decided to give a 75% concession in registration fees to ex-servicemen and widows of ex-servicemen when they buy a plot of land or an apartment. This will be a one-time concession. This decision is expected to benefit around 11,000 ex-servicemen and widows of ex-servicemen.

To ease the issue of passengers travelling to Guwahati Railway Station, the Cabinet approved the transfer of ASTC land in Paltan Bazaar to the Railway Authority for construction of a second entry to the Guwahati Railway Station.

The Cabinet also decided that from now, the government can transfer employees from their parent department to other departments. This will be done to improve their efficiency and productivity. The Cabinet passed an ordinance in this regard today and this rule will be applicable to all government employees who are appointed after the notification is issued.

In another move to improve the efficiency of government officers, the Assam Government will collaborate with the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers will undergo a special one-month training at LBSNAA.

The Assam Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar under which the University will set up a temporary campus in Guwahati. The Cabinet also decided that till the National Forensic Sciences University in North Guwahati is completed, it will function from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) campus.
