GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet has decided to seek suggestions from the public to extend the food security net through an amendment to the Assam Food Security Rules, 2022. The Cabinet has proposed to increase the income limit for families for selection as beneficiaries from the existing Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 4 lakh per annum.

The Cabinet also decided to set up the Adivasi Welfare and Development Council as per the Adivasi Accord signed on September 15, 2022.

The Cabinet decided to pay one-time compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the 1,496 casual labourers of Doloo Tea Estate and Rs 2.50 lakh each for construction houses to 173 families to be displaced for the proposed Greenfield Airport.

The Cabinet approved the Transport Department’s decision to issue driving licences and registration certificates in electronic, safe, printable PDF format and the Department’s decision to completely stop the issue of QR-based smart cards for driving licences and the RC.

The Cabinet also approved the proposed transfer policy for officers and staff under Assam Secretariat Services and Assam Secretariat Sub-ordinate Services.

The Cabinet approved amendments to Sections 2 and 10 of the Assam Gratuity Act to clear up confusion regarding the definition of gratuity wage and remove the wage ceiling of Rs 2,500.
